A consultative workshop in Seiyun concludes with a shared vision for peace infrastructure
Seiyun, Yemen – A consultative workshop with civil society leaders on advancing a shared vision for peace infrastructure concluded in Seiyun, Yemen on Wednesday, October 11, 2023. The workshop was organized by the Bin Habreish Foundation for Development (BHF) in partnership with the Reen! Yemen Foundation, as part of the activities of the Yemen Peace Institutionalization Project. The project aims to develop a shared vision between leading peacemakers in Yemen and active civil society organizations, and to develop a plan to establish a formal peace infrastructure in the post-conflict period in Yemen.
The two-day workshop, which targeted the judiciary, rights organizations, local authorities, security forces, and leaders of active civil society organizations, discussed a number of key issues in the following areas:
- Security and justice
- Education and peace culture (rationalizing religious and media discourse)
- Social justice
- Wealth and power
- Transitional justice
- Economic reform
At the conclusion of the workshop, which was attended by Reen! Yemen project officer Ahmed Ali Al-Badani, participants agreed on a set of political papers containing recommendations, practices, and sound proposals that would strengthen and establish a solid foundation for a local community vision that would ensure the construction of an inclusive and sustainable peace in the next transitional phase.
