Women at the Heart of Decision-Making Project

BHF Media | Seiyun

The intensive training program under the Women at the Heart of Decision-Making Project was launched today, Monday, June 15, 2026, in Seiyun. The project is implemented by the Binhabrish Foundation for Human Development (BHF) in partnership with the Peace Path Initiative, with funding from the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in collaboration with the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF).

The opening session was attended by Mr. Abdulhadi Abdullah Al-Tamimi, Assistant Governor of Hadhramaut for Valley and Desert District Affairs, who underscored the importance of the project in strengthening women’s participation and leadership in development and peacebuilding processes. He emphasized that empowering women and promoting their inclusion in decision-making structures are key prerequisites for sustainable development and lasting peace.

Al-Tamimi further highlighted the need to invest in the capacities of women leaders and support their engagement in public affairs and community development, commending the efforts of the implementing and supporting organizations in advancing women’s leadership and participation.

The project seeks to enhance the meaningful and effective participation of women in local decision-making mechanisms related to peacebuilding and resource governance, contributing to the practical implementation of the Yemeni Women’s Roadmap for Peace. Through a comprehensive capacity-building approach, the project will equip women leaders with skills in leadership, decision-making, and local peacebuilding.

Project activities include an intensive training program for women leaders, a women-led dialogue workshop bringing together female leaders and decision-makers, and the development of recommendations that will inform a research paper on women’s leadership and its role in local decision-making processes.

The project reflects a shared commitment to advancing women’s voices, strengthening inclusive governance, and promoting sustainable peace at the local level.
